Pizza Hotdish Recipe

A few years back, I found a recipe for Pizza Hotdish in our local paper.  Of course, that title sounds like perhaps the only way to get kids excited about a hotdish!  (I just want you to know that WordPress is not currently accepting hotdish as a word.  It really is.)  I have made some changes and we just love this recipe.  So comforting on a cold night with the family, but it also works well for a meal in the field as well.  Freezes well, too.

Pizza Hotdish

2 pounds ground beef

1 small onion, chopped (extra fine if you want to hide it from your kids)

1/2 t. oregano

1/2 t. pepper

12 oz.  package egg noodles

1 can black olives (could be left out, or substituted with mushrooms)

Preheat oven to 350.  Brown ground beef with onions.  Boil noodles.  Put everything in a 9×13 pan.

Then mix the following and pour on top:

1 jar spaghetti sauce (I love Ragu Garden Vegetable)

1 jar pizza sauce

1 c. milk

Lastly, top with

1 c. pepperoni

8 oz. mozzarella cheese

Bake covered with foil for 60 minutes, then uncover and let bake until browned on top, about 15 minutes.
